Dewey Wyatt

 

 

-Began swimming for his Junior High School team in 7th grade.

-joined Seacoast Swim Club under Coach Harvey Wheeler and spent entire age group career there

-set team and State age group (AAU/US) records in Breaststroke and Relays.

-Swam 4 years of high school with Greely High School earning Captain his senior year graduating in 1982

-became first swimmer from Maine to break the minute barrier in the 100 breaststroke setting a state record in the process that lasted 8 years. 

-was part of a Maine high school 200 medley relay state record team that lasted 11 years

-voted Maine swimmer of the year for 1982

-attended Indiana University freshman year under “Doc” Councilman

-transferred to University of Maine for remainder of collegiate career under Al Switzer

-set school records in the 100+200 breaststrokes in 1987.  Held record for almost 20 years

-Won Eastern Collegiate Conference title in the 100 breaststroke in 1987

-As a masters swimmer set Masters World Record in the LCM 50 breaststroke (30.39) and was world runner up in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.57) both in the 30-34 age group

-swam many masters top 10 swims nationally and locally

-volunteer assistant swim coach at Wabash College (Indiana 1994-97)

-Married to Masters national champion Tricia Wyatt (50 free), they have 3 sons and live in S. Lee, Ma.
